Debate Across the Curriculum seeks to provide educators with an instructional method that brings the skill set of debate to the classroom. Teachers, regardless of subject matter, are able to use this instructional method to help students develop their critical thinking and communication skills.

Much of the history surrounding debate involves students competing and developing debate skills at debate tournaments. As a result, far too many students never get to experience and develop the invaluable skill set that debate education can provide. Critical reading, writing, and oral communication skills have been found to enhance academic achievement, conflict resolution, and leadership skills–all the skills students will need for the 21st century and beyond.
