Civic Scholars Program
The Civic Scholars Program offers Atlanta Urban Debate League member schools, educators, students, and community members opportunities for direct civic and community engagement.
As a part of the Atlanta Urban Debate League (AUDL) Civic Scholars program, the AUDL would like to introduce Reflections on Community. Since its founding at Emory University in 1985, as the first urban debate league in the nation, the AUDL has consistently promoted the value of “Community over Competition.” The league believes that our students have greater access, are more curious, and learn more when we promote the idea that the debate community, as an educational space, matters more than competition. This value has allowed us to create a community in which all of our members feel welcome and able to participate. The Reflections on Community online art exhibit allows the AUDL to display the creative work of our members as they reflect on the concept of “community.”
The AUDL offers this programming, a part of our Civic Scholars series, as a way to promote the continued development of the AUDL community, even at a distance, and to offer AUDL community members an opportunity to be creative in a way that debate doesn’t always allow. Submission information can be found below, at also downloaded via the following link.
Submission Deadline: The Reflections on Community art exhibit will be hosted on the AUDL website and will be featured on AUDL social media platforms through the summer. The league welcomes submissions during the entirety of the exhibition which will tentatively close in late July 2020.
